I am not Muslim, so this may be out of line, but I do have to say that just because you are religious and just because you hold some beliefs dearly does not exempt those beliefs from criticism. Just because the Prophet was someone that you hold in high esteem, that does not mean that no one is allowed to say that he did bad things. Everything should be up for question when it comes to holding ourselves to higher standards of decency.

That being said, I think the people who did the caricatures probably didn’t actually know what they were talking about and were making inappropriate, unnecessary and untrue criticisms in a disrespectful manner.
